I'm doing a Behavioural Design course with @IrrationalLabs at the moment which has highlighted something similar - sometimes we think that the fewer steps in the flow, the better. But actually, sometimes there is a need to introduce 'friction' (like an onboarding flow) into the user's experience in order to improve conversion.
